Essay Question

Using ONLY your AS coursework, answer this question:

1 (b) 1b Analyse one of your coursework productions (your AS vid) in relation to the concept of narrative. (25 marks)

Once you've had a little thinking time, perhaps 5 or 10 mins planning a few things, spend only 30mins on the actual writing of this response - it's important that you start as you mean to go on and time/limit yourself half an hour only as this is obviously the amount of time you'll get in the exam for this 1(b) question.

MUST be handwritten and neat - don't make me have to try to read your writing

Think about including these things:

  • a detached analysis of your AS video
  • detailed reference to the video
  • using the concept from the question (narrative)
  • using two examples of theory

I want these handed in BY Thursday 21st November 3:20pm - to my office, any time.

Lessons this week:

Ms Scott will be having the entire afternoon of lessons on Wednesday so you have no lesson with me.

On Friday, Ms Scott isn't in so we thought it'd be a great opportunity for you all to schedule a complete morning of filming as a group - no one's at work, no one's got prior engagements etc

I'm telling you now so's you can organise extras, locations, storyboards ready for Friday.

The media room'll be open and free for you to use if you'd prefer to spend your time as a group editing - I'll be in there 1&2 as normal.

If you're NOT going to go filming, I'll see you at 9:05am.

If you ARE going filming, do let me know somehow (blog, email, face-to-face) before Friday morning, so's I can give you your attendance mark, otherwise you'll be marked absent.

RESEARCH TASK: Media Theory Presentations

Below are all your new Media Theorists.

Do some individual research on them.

Your task is to do a 5min presentation on your theorist.

There is almost TOO much stuff online about all of them - your first job will be to sift through it all and collate only the good bits into a form that suits you - ppt, prezi, vid etc - is entirely up to you.

YOU MUST NOT SIMPLY COPY ANYTHING THAT'S ALREADY OUT THERE.

You must also provide an A4 handout about your theorist that YOU'VE PUT TOGETHER.

Remember, images make things a LOT easier to remember..

Presentations will take place:
Wednesday 27th November 2013

Adobe Photoshop CS6

Photoshop has now been installed on:

Big Macs 6, 5, 4, 3

Little Macs 6, 5, 4

So we can all crack on and get our practice Digipak finished!

The rest of the macs are still due to be done - I think by Monday, we'll have it on all of them.

Do a YouTube search for tutorials on it, to teach yourself - there are loads!  And when you find a good one, get it on your blog, or send me the link.

Marking Criteria for G324

Hard copy will be provided for you in Wednesday's lesson - we DO have a lesson as I've been given Ms Scott's 5&6 lesson (she's getting ready for her speech at the Prospective Post 16 Parents evening), so I'll see you then!

This Week's Task:

Click here for the latest from Pete's blog

I want you all to have a go at the task:  "Make your own album cover"

Follow the 5 steps on Pete's blog and then get your final version uploaded onto your blog along with proof of all your steps.

Photoshop is available on all pcs in the ICT rooms - have asked Ed to install it on all of the Macs ready for the real thing.  However, there are plenty of free CD creators online - use your initiative and go find one...

I want this finished and uploaded onto your blog for Friday's lesson so we can look/share them IN THE LESSON.

Here's my first attempt (couldn't figure out how to make it a square - hopefully one of you will be able to show me on Friday):
